Overview of Star of Hope's Transitional Living Center for Women & Children
Every day at Star of Hope, with help from caring people like you, nearly 1,000 men, women and children find comfort in crisis and the tools for a brighter future.  Established in 1907, Star of Hope Mission began as an outreach to Houston's homeless and addicted men.  In recent years, as women and children became the fastest growing homeless population, we developed programs to meet their needs as well.

The Transitional Living Center for Women & Families (TLC) helps clients transition from homelessness to become successful, independent members of our community. It takes time to break the generational cycle of abuse, neglect and addiction that traps so many families.  The Transitional Living Center's intensive program offers women and families new hope through a 12-18 month case management-base program. TLC has 66 one, two and three bedroom apartments for families and a college dorm setting for 45 women.  TLC is comprehensive and includes personal development, parenting skills, spiritual development, a TCADA licensed substance abuse recovery program, career development, GED tutoring and counseling.  The state-licensed children's program, including childcare, preschool and after-school activities and homework assistance, provides a great foundation for our children and keeps children busy with activities that are fun, positive, enriching, creative and educational.  In addition to having a great time together, the teen program focuses on education and healthy living patterns.  We are thrilled for the opportunity to work with NBTA volunteers as together we serve Houston's homeless men, women and children!
