RACHEL TURNER OF AVIS BUDGET GROUP WITH A TRAVELER TIP

-          Rent smaller car rental vehicles, like compact or intermediate versus a full size or SUV when possible.

BARBARA HOFF OF REI WITH A CORPORATE TIP

Green building

Green buildings emphasize water conservation, energy efficiency and indoor air quality. When done well, resulting buildings are more comfortable and healthier to be in, have lower impacts on the environment and can have reduced operating costs.
In the construction of new REI buildings, we consider the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) point system as a measure in meeting our green building goals, when possible. Through our store prototype initiative, we are testing design and green building concepts to help us make decisions in the future. Our first prototype store is located in Boulder, Colo., and our second such store will be located in Round Rock, Texas.

KELLY MURRAY OF HOTEL ANDRA WITH AN OFFICE AND HOME TIP

We seem to go through a lot of paper in the Andra Sales/Executive Office, so two years ago we started capturing paper that was only printed on one side and saving it to re-run through the printer on the other.  It has cut our paper consumption by about 25%, and is so easy to do.  We have boxes by each printer where we “recycle” our one-side-printed paper (it always goes in the box blank side up), and we use that paper to refill the printer (when the document isn’t headed off to a client).  Now I do it at home as well – announcements and notices that come home from school make great drawing paper for the kids.

THORSTEIN REIM OF HILTON GARDEN INN WITH SOME HOME AND TRAVEL TIPS
-       Use paper used for daily reports and cut it up as scratch paper.
-       Instead of Water bottles install a water cooler.
-       Hotel Room: Add Recycling bin in the guestroom for daily Newspaper etc.

SANDY SIDELL OF DOLLAR THRIFTY PARKING: OFFICE TIP
Put a small note just below your computer screen..

'STOP!  Do you really need to print this?"

You would be amazed at how many times we print something we really didn't need.

DIANE STRATTON OF ALASKA/HORIZON ON EATING GREEN AND SAVING GREEN
Bring your lunch to work in reusable containers a few times a week instead of
grabbing takeout. You’ll save a lot of money and cut back on waste. About
one-quarter of all litter comes from takeout packaging.
